History Before I even have a dog I enjoyed spending time in dog shows. When I got my first dog Sissi we started to go to the PoKS' show practise and Match Shows. I took part in Children's handling competitions with Sissi. In our first competition we were 2nd. After that we took part in several match show's and it felt nice when everything went well and we got some success so we kept practising. My main goal as a handler is to develop all the time, you're never good enough, there is always something what you could do better.

Ennen kuin omaa koriaa edes omistin, olivat koiranäyttelyt mukavaa katsottavaa ja tunnelma niissä käsin kosketeltavaa. Sissin saavuttua taloon aloin myös itse harjoitella esittämistä ja kävimme hakemassa harjoitusta epävirallisista match show'ista. Aikoinani osallistuin myös Lapsi & koira -kisoihin ja ensimmäisessä koitoksessamme sijotuimme Sissin kanssa toiseksi. Onnistumisen tunne innosti eteenpäin ja myös palkinnot tuntuivat arvokkailta merkeiltä jonkin osaamisesta. Tärkein tavoitteeni handlerina on kehittyä jatkuvasti parempaan suuntaan, koskaan ei voi sanoa olevansa tarpeeksi hyvä.

My first time in Junior Handler ring was in summer 2001. It was ATC's club show and the dog who I handled was our own puppy Pura (Ouskan Gerbera Kerttu). The next year was full of other happens than dog shows but in ATC's club show in Kajaani (summer 2002) I was in the ring again, this time with Sissi. The judge was Maritsa Pietikäinen and I was truly surprised when I realized that I had won. Since then I have been keen on handling. I started to practise and go to the match show's junior handling competitions. My first official competition was in Helsinki Fair Centre 2002 and the judge was Jaakko Sarmola from Finland. To sum up, my first competition was full of mistakes but I continued practising and got few nice placements during my last year as a junior handler.

Junior handlerissa kilpailin ensimmäistä kertaa kesällä 2001. Aussikerhon kesäpäivillä kilpakumppaninani oli oman talon pentu Pura (Ouskan Gerbera Kerttu) ja paahtavassa helteessä sijotuimme toisiksi. Seuraavan vuoden tapahtumat olivat täynnä kaikkea muuta kuin koiranäyttelyjä mutta jälleen aussien kesäpäivillä 2002 innostuin lajista ja suureksi yllätyksekseni voitin Maritsa Pietikäisen tuomaroiman kilpailun. Sen myötä aloitin aktiivisen harjoittelun ja kilpailin kolme viimeistä vuottani. Ensimmäinen virallinen junnukisani oli messarissa 2002 ja vaikka kyseinen suoritus olikin lähellä täyskatastrofia, jatkoin harjoittelemista ja viimeisenä junnuvuotenani saavutin muutamia mukavia sijoituksia kisoissa.

Few times I competed with totally different breed and the first of those was Scottish Terrier. Helmi (Fin CH Turriff Trixie) is owned by my friend Iida Villman and with Helmi I competed in Ylivieska and Pori Int. shows in 2004. In Pori we were among the best nine handlers. I want to thank you Iida for your time and patience! I haven't competed with large dogs until on May 2005, when I took part in junior handler with Golden Retriever Alpo (Delibes's Jovial Pal) and for my surprise we were second. Setters have always seemed so attractive to me and I got an opportunity to compete with Red Irish Setter Brenda (Karmino Made Elektra) in Oulu 2005. Brenda is joyful and pleasing to handle and in that competition we were among the best 18. Thanks to the owners who gave me important advice how to show big dogs.

Muutaman kerran junnuaikoinani kilpailin myös täysin vieraiden rotujen kanssa, ensimmäinen niistä oli skotlanninterrieri. Kesällä 2004 kilpailin Helmin (Fin CH Turriff Trixie) kanssa sekä Ylivieskan että Porin näyttelyissä ja Porissa suorituksemme riitti aina 9 parhaan joukkoon. Tuhannet kiitokset Iida Villmanille kärsivällisistä neuvoista! Ennen kevättä 2005 en ollut koskaan kilpaillut suuren koiran kanssa ja ensimmäinen sellainen kilpakumppani oli kultainennoutaja Alpo (Delibes's Jovial Pal) jonka kanssa ylsimme toiselle sijalle Joensuun junnukisassa. Setterit ovat aina viehättäneet minua olemuksellaan ja sain tilaisuuden kilpailla sellaisen kanssa, kun Oulussa 2005 hihnan toisessa päässä liikkui punainen irlanninsetteri Brenda (Karmino Made Elektra) ja pääsimme mukavasti 18 parhaan joukkoon. Kiitos kummankin omistajille opeista isomman koiran kanssa esiintymiseen.

After my junior handling days I spent my time training Ansa and I've also handled many other dogs than ours. For several times I've been in the ring with Dachshunds and Borzois – two breeds which both are very different compared to Australian terriers. During my years in the showring I have had pleasure to get to know many wonderful dogs. Everyone of them have taught something new about handling and I have learnt something about myself too. Some are dogs who I handled in junior handler ring and others I have made friends with in breed rings. I want to thank the owners and breeders of the dogs for giving me important advice.

Junnuvuosieni jälkeen keskitin energiani Ansan kouluttamiseen mutta olen esittänyt myös lukuisia muita koiria. Useamman kerran olen pyörähtänyt kehässä mäyräkoirien ja venäjänvinttikoirien kanssa – molemmat rotuja, jotka poikkeavat suuresti aussista. Näiden kehässä vietettyjen vuosien aikana olen saanut tutustua moniin valloittaviin koirapersooniin. Jotkut ovat olleet junnukisojen kilpakumppaneita, toisiin olen tutustunut rotukehissä. Suuret kiitokset niille kasvattajille ja omistajille, jotka ovat antaneet tärkeitä neuvoja esittämiseen.
